Cards with bird images using Spellbinders Dies

Hello!  I hope all of you enjoyed your Thanksgiving.  We had a wonderful day which wrapped up about 11:00pm with me as the Queen of Canasta!  Yep ...  I took the boys down.  teehee.  And over the weekend I spent saturday with my friend Deb.  She loves mixed media as well, so we worked on our She Art.  I'm going to get brave enough to share my canvas's one day.  Not familiar with She Art ??  It's simple art with a girl on it and some words that are meaningful to you.  I took She Art #1 from Christy Tomlison back in the spring.  If you are interested in mixed media, I recommend the class and you can check it out HERE.  I ended up starting a Christmas themed canvas.  Almost done, just need to add a few more details.  I also picked up some wooden birdhouses at Micheals, hoping to have time to alter them in a Christmas theme.

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards I created using stamp sets by Mark's Finest Papers.  The one above uses an image from a set called Little Birds with Big Mouths.  MFP is going through some changes right now, under new ownership, and honestly, I'm not sure which of the old sets they will be adding back on, or which ones are discontinued.  But, I had already designed my Nov cards back in Oct, so I'm going to share anyway.

This set was in the store last week, but not there now.  It's called Chicken Scratch.  I designed this one using a clean and simple Take Ten sketch for a submission.  I'm also using today for the sketch challenge over at StampTV.  You can check out this weeks Freinds of SpeedyTV challenge HERE.  I hope you will join us!

Have a great week!
hugs,
Melisa

Bee Well Soon!

Good Morning Paper Crafters.  Today I am sharing a card using "Honey Sweet" art stamp set by Layers of Color.  Isn't this set just perfect for a get well card!  Colored using Copics.  I trimed the main image and layered it over to cut outs created using my Spellbinders Labels Five Nestibilities and my Grand Calibur.  The image is compatible with Labels 20.  I added shadow inside the fencing with yellow chalk and N00.  This one is clean and simple and easy to create.

I hope you have a bee-utiful day!

The future is bright ...

Hello Paper Crafters!  Is anyone going to be stamping today??  If you are, what will you be working on??  I created this one using one of Layers of Color's new releases "Encouragement" art stamp set.  Nina Brackett has a designed this set with some beautiful sentiments and verses in it, 8 total.  I was going for a shabby / vintage feel with this one.  The patterned paper and "Victorian Frame" reminded me of something you might have seen on a wall many years ago.  I added the little flower from my "Merci Bouquet" set. I used  the last piece of one of my most favorite lace on this one.  I had found it in an antique store.  It probably wasn't antique, who knows, but it was definitely unique.  Time to hit the anitque stores for some more rare finds.
Patterned Paper : The Girls Paperie "Kitch"
The next 2 were designed for Take Ten.  The cards are only supposed to take 10 minutes to create, so I had to keep them fairly clean and simple.  I have mailed them in and hope to see them in a future publication!

Supplies:
Stamps : Layers of Color “Pansy Corner” cling stamp set, “Flutterescent” and “Encouragement” art stamp sets
Copic Markers
Spellbinders Labels Eight and Grand Calibur
Stamp images on white cardstock. Trim sentiment using Spellbinders Labels Eight die with Grand Calibur. Ink edges. Color butterfly and pansy’s with markers and trim. Adhere all pieces to front of card. Ink edges.

Stamps : Layers of Color “RoseBlossom Frame” cling art stamp (compatible with Spellbinders Labels 16)  I did not use the Labels 16 die on this project.
and “Honey Sweet” art stamp set
Ink : Momento
Copic Markers
Ribbon unknown

Stamp rose frame on front of A2 card and color. Stamp sentiment. Stamp bee’s on separate white cardstock, color, and trim. Adhere to front of card. Tie bow and adhere.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
I am really excited to be meeting up with some new friends for a card swap tomorrow morning.
big hugs,
Melisa

Tempting Template - Umbrella

****** PUBLISHED IN THE AUGUST ISSUE OF STAMPER'S SAMPLER***

Good Morning Papercrafters.  Today I have a template card to share with you.  I LOVE Stampers Sampler and one of the things they publish in each  issue is a template or pattern.  They challenge their readers to create and submit a project using it.  The Feb/March issue had an umbrella pattern.  The April / May issue (on news stands now), has a mason jar pattern.  I can't wait to play with that one.  If you aren't able to purchase the magazine, then you can check out their "Tempting Templates" HERE.  Looks like they don't keep them up do date immediately.  The last ones were from August 2010.  If you really like the umbrella pattern, then check out what I found when I googled under images "umbrella coloring book" HERE.

I created the bird house myself.  I used my Spellbinders Classic Oval die set and my Grand Calibur to cut the opening.  The scallop along the roof line is hand cut.  The umbrella is paper-pieced and raffia was added to create a bird's nest.  And of course I had to add bird images by one my favorite stamp company, Layers of Color.
Sentiment - Sent With Love
DP - Pink Paislee 6x6 paperpad - 365 Degrees
(sorry, this one is retired)

If you decide to design your own umbrella card, I would love to check it out!  Just leave me a link.
Thanks for stopping by and have a very blessed week!

Did you know you can get the Grand Calibur at Hobby Lobby?  Hmmm ... wondering if that qualifies with the 40% off coupon.  Anybody know??

Cornish Heritage Farms Summer Stamp Star Contest

Cornish Heritage Farm is hosting a "Summer Stamp Star" Contest with weekly challenges. This is my project for Challenge #1 Color It !! They are awarding weekly winners and then 1 Over-all Winner. So there is still time for you to qualify to enter one of the weekly Catagories.

I used Single Blackeyed Susan stamp and one of my favorite colorization techniques - H2O Watercolors.
Cornish Heritage Farms has an AWESOME BACKGROUND COLLECTION. I used Polkadots. I love polkadots and new this one would be a good investment, something I would use over and over. They also have a great sentiment collection under MONA LISA. I found a beautiful set of friendship sentiments.

Corner Punch is by EK Success. I also used Spellbinders Label and Bird Dies. I added the eye and wing to the bird. I'm not sure who the button and ribbon are. I got it from my huge stash. Patterned paper is by Basic Grey. I used Pearlescent Chocolate Ink to stamp polkadots / sentiment and Palette Noir to stamp image. Micron 005 Black Pen to accent doodle.
